To reengage the steering control (J) push the steering control (J) handle past the vertical neutral position, towards the bow,
until you feel it reengage.
Tip:
The rudder will lock in place in the position it is in when the steering control handle is disengaged, allowing for greater
control of your kayak.
Tip:
The steering control (J) handle is height adjustable. Loosen the screws on the back of the handle, adjust to your preferred
height, and retighten screws.
11.5 Using the Stowage Strap
To help stow the Helix PD (E) when not in use or to stabilize unit in swells or surf launches use the stowage strap (C). Pivot
the Helix PD (E) forward into the stowed position. Secure the stowage strap (C) over the Helix PD (E) and buckle the stowage
straps (C) male and female buckles together. Tighten the strap stowage (C) by pulling on the strap end on the male buckle.
12. STORAGE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
12.1 General Care Advice
Materials were chosen with a high level of corrosion-resistance. All of the materials used in the Helix PD are, as with most
leisure maritime products, classed as “seawater resistant”, not “seawater-proof”.
•
After use you should always remove the Helix PD from the water.
•
After operation wash all components in fresh water, especially after use in brackish or salt water.
12.2 Instructions for Rinsing the System
Perform a fresh water, low pressure rinse on the entire system after use in brackish or salt water.
Tip:
While you are rinsing your unit is a good time to thoroughly inspect the unit for damage.
