Start-Up
Inserting the Batteries
The battery compartment
6
is located at the back of the unit. Slide
off the cover in the direction of the arrow and insert four LR44
batteries. Pay attention to the proper polarity of the batteries. The
polarity is printed inside the battery compartment.
The batteries should be replaced when the battery symbol
7
is
displayed.
Taking Measurements
The unit can measure distances between 30 cm and 10 m.
The distance is measured from the underside of the unit. That
means the height of the unit (50 mm) is included with the measured
distance.
Place the underside of the unit on the surface from which the
distance is to be measured.
Press the right (measuring) button
4
and read the measured result
from the display. The laser is turned on and measurements are
carried out as long as you keep pressing the button.
For easier handling in difficult circumstances, the laser can be
turned on separately. Press the left (laser) button
3
and place the
laser dot on the surface to which you intend to measure. Press the
measuring button
4
to conduct the measuring. The laser will
automatically turn off when the measuring button is released.
Measurements should be carried out against flat, solid surface,
which should be located in such a way that the sound will be
reflected back towards the unit.
If the target surface is not suitable, e.g. too small, of irregular shape
or composed of sound-absorbing material, a sufficiently large piece
of cardboard should be attached to the object to serve as a target.
Please make sure no objects or persons are in the measuring line.
If the unit is not operated for more then 30 seconds, it turns off
automatically.
