5. Close access and fill points after filling (where applicable).
6. Attach a padlock to the access points (as applicable) for security and to prevent unauthorized entry.
7. It is acceptable to start aeration fans after a 2’ — 3’ depth of grain has been obtained.
8. When grain is dried to specified temperature, dump chutes are opened to allow hot dried grain to fall into
the cooling/storage area.
Do not overfill the grain bin. The maximum grain level in the bin should be 32" (813 mm)
below the fan(s) entrance level.
Stored grain should not reach the fan/heater duct opening.

Lock out the bin ladder to prevent unauthorized entry.

7.7. Use and Storage
It is beyond the scope of this manual to instruct the operator in proper aeration procedures. We advise the
operator consult with state university and local extension service plus draw on their own experience to best
