3. INSTALLATION
Please read these instructions carefully before using
the device.
They must be carried out by qualified personnel. All
connections must be made in accordance with the
regulations in force and in full compliance with the
safety regulations (CEI regulation 26-10 - CENELEC
HD 427).
-
Ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to that
indicated on the rating plate.
-
When fitting a plug, ensure that it has a suitable
capacity and connect the yellow/green conductor
of the power cable to the earth pin.
WARNING! Extension cables up to 30 m must have a
cross section of at least 2.5 mm².
3.1 DESCRIPTION OF THE EQUIPMENT
1) Cutting torch connection
2) Din cable connection (+) Earth terminal
3) LED lamp which lights up when the unit is switched on.
4) LED lamp indicating that the thermostat is activated.
5) Cutting current Adjustment button: Use this to set the
cutting current.
6) Power cable
7) On/Off switch (main switch)
3.2 COMMISSIONING
Switch on the unit by turning the switch 7 (Fig. 1); this is
indicated by LED 3 (Fig. 1) lighting up. Pressing the torch
button for one second opens the compressed air supply.
Connect the work clamp to the piece to be cut. N.B. The
cutting quality is much better when the nozzle is in
contact with the workpiece. Make sure that the ground
clamp and the workpiece have good electrical contact,
especially with painted, oxidised or insulated sheet metal.
Do not connect the ground clamp to the part of the
material to be removed. Press and hold the torch switch
to ignite the arc. If cutting does not start within 3
seconds, the arc goes out. To reignite it, press the switch
again and repeat the start sequence. Keep the torch
upright during cutting. When cutting is complete and the
switch has been released, air will continue to flow from
the torch for approximately 30 seconds to allow the torch
to cool. Do not turn the machine off until this cooling
period is complete. If holes are to be made or cutting is to
be started from the centre of the workpiece, the torch
must be held at an angle and slowly straightened so that
the nozzle does not spray molten metal.
(see fig. 2). Do not leave the pilot light burning in the air if
this is not necessary. This prevents unnecessary
consumption of the electrode, swirl ring or nozzle. Switch
off the machine when the task is complete.
Connect the power supply cable (6): the yellow-green
wire of the cable must be connected to a proper earth of
the installation, the other wires must be connected to the
phase wires by means of a switch placed as close as
possible to the cutting area, in order to allow a quick
shutdown in case of emergency. Any extension cables
must have a diameter sufficient for the current consumed.
3.3 USE
Ensure that the start button of the cutting torch is not
pressed. Switch on the unit with the switch (7). This
causes the light (3) to illuminate. A brief press on the
torch switch will open the compressed air supply. As the
arc is since the arc is not ignited, the air leaves the
cutting torch for only 5 sec. Connect the earth terminal to
the workpiece to be cut. The cutting circuit may not be
intentionally brought into direct or indirect contact with
the earth wire, except on the workpiece to be cut.
Use the button (5) to set the cutting current from 5 to 30
A depending on the work to be carried out. Ensure that
the ground clamp and the workpiece make good electrical
contact, especially with painted or oxidised metal or an
insulating coating; connect the clamp as close to the
cutting area as possible. Ensure that the earth terminal
and the workpiece make good electrical contact,
especially with painted, oxidised steel sheet or steel sheet
with insulating coating. Do not connect the earth terminal
to the piece of material to be removed. Press the torch
switch to switch on the arc. If cutting does not start after
2 seconds, the arc extinguishes and the switch must be
pressed again.
