Initial commissioning procedure
Check for any damages that may have
occurred during shipping while you un-
pack the printer. Also check that all com-
ponents are included in your delivery.
NOTICE
There is a risk that your property could
be damaged.
Take the following steps before setting up the
printer:
•
Setup the printer in a location that allows suffi-
cient room for inserting the ribbon and labels.
•
Be sure that the printer is adequately ventilated
and that it is not positioned in direct sunlight.
•
Do not operate the printer in a moist environment
or in the vicinity of corrosive chemicals.
•
Be sure not to exceed the maximum cable length
(this depends on the interface port used). Ensure
that all plugs are easy to access.

Connecting the printer
NOTICE
There is a risk that your property could
be damaged.
The printer must be turned off; the
mains switch should in the OFF (0) posi-
tion.
3.1.1 Power
supply

Plug the power cord into the power supply unit.

Insert the outlet plug from the power supply unit
into the power input socket located on the back of
the printer.

Plug the power cord into a mains power outlet.
3.1.2 Interfaces
The printer can be connected to a PC using a serial,
parallel, USB or Ethernet connection cable. Contact
a specialized retailer if you need further assistance.
•
The printer automatically detects the selected in-
terface.
•
The standard interface settings are printed on the
self-test print page.
•
The appendix lists the cable assignment configu-
ration for the serial (RS232C) or parallel (Cen-
tronics) interfaces.
•
Be sure that your cable length does not exceed
the maximum recommended length specified for
that interface. This will help you to avoid cable
transfer problems.
