CHAPTER 7
Activating the HPSA-7100-R
The final installation step is to configure the HPSA volume controls, verify the proper
audio input levels, properly adjust the HPSA output volume settings and verify the HPSA-
7100-R is functioning correctly.
This chapter provides instructions for powering up the HPSA-7100-R, adjusting and
setting volume controls, verifying system startup, and testing the speakers.

7.1 POWERING UP THE HPSA-7100-R
With the HPSA-7100-R securely mounted and all electronic cables properly connected
(except the cables going out to the drivers), the unit can be powered up and the Volume
Controls can be set prior to activating and operating the HPSA. This section describes how
to power up the HPSA-7100-R and verify proper power levels and communications within
the HPSA by viewing status LEDs within the unit.
1. Notify the local Authority Having Jurisdiction and all personnel in the vicinity
that the system may be activated for an audio test.
2. Apply sufficient ear protection .
PRIOR TO ACTIVATING THE HPSA, VERIFY THE CONNECTIONS FROM
THE AMPLIFIER BOARD TO THE DRIVERS ARE ALL DISCONNECTED,
PROVIDING A NO-LOAD CONDITION.
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES AND CURRENTS ARE PRESET IN THE HPSA
ELECTRONICS CABINET. ONLY PROPERLY TRAINED SERVICE
PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED TO ACCESS AND PROGRAM THE STEPS
LISTED IN THIS CHAPTER.
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN WORKING INSIDE THE HPSA.
