The cold water expansion valve must be fitted with a drain pipe to direct any water discharged to a visible point outside
the property and must also be protected against freezing. In accordance with G12 AS1 the drain pipe must have a
continuous fall and be at least the same size as the valve outlet. Where the drain pipe exceeds three meters in length an
air break must be provided within 300 mm of the CWE valve outlet. Where an air break is used it is recommended that
the pipe size after the air break be increased to one size larger than the CWE valve.
Maintenance
The valve is maintenance free and cannot be serviced. The volume of discharged water could reach 3% of the cylinders
total capacity during a heat recovery cycle. For example a 180 liter cylinder could vent 5.4 liters when heated from cold.
To check the valves correct performance, collect and measuring the discharge over a heat cycle and compare it to your
calculation as above.
SECTION THREE - PROTANK 20 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
All terms of the warranty, subject to the conditions below, are effective from the date of installation if proof of installation
date can be provided. Where the date of installation is not known or cannot be proven, the warranty will commence one
month after proof of purchase date.
1. SINGLE DOMESTIC RESIDENCE WARRANTY
A ‘Single Domestic Residence’ installation is defined as an installation where the hot water cylinder with a factory set
thermostat delivers hot water to a privately owned single family residential dwelling which is not used for commercial
purposes.

Followed by;
5 YEARS FREE PARTS ONLY costs (excluding labour) to replace or repair the cylinder if it fails due to manufacturing

10 YEARS *PRO-RATA PARTS ONLY reducing costs (excluding labour) according to the below formula, to replace or repair
the cylinder if it fails due to manufacturing defect.
*Pro-Rata Formula = Original purchase price x remaining warranty in years ÷ total warranty period of the cylinder.

5 YEARS FREE PARTS and LABOUR costs to replace or repair any valve that fails due to manufacturing defect. Protank
Element Only;
12 MONTHS FREE PARTS and LABOUR costs to replace or repair the element if it fails due to manufacturing defect.
2. Commercial Applications Warranty
Any installation not considered to be a single residential domestic type.
