4.  Make sure the feed water source is a reliable one and will constantly deliver feed water between 40

psi and 80 psi maximum.  Your RO system has been equipped with an low pressure shut-off, In the

event that the line pressure to your RO inlet falls below 20 psi., this switch will open breaking the

electrical connection.  This will keep the drive pump from running dry and damage occurring to its

internal components. If your RSX II starts/stops frequently on low pressure, you may have to add a

pressurized bladder tank on the inlet line or increase the inlet pressure.

Step 7. Installing the Drain Line

1.  A 3/8” poly tube should be used for the drain line.

For systems equipped with the fast flush

option this will be sufficient.

Attach the drain line to the 3/8”push in fitting on top of the waste

flow meter. See Figure 1. Position the drain line over the drain and secure it in place.  Do not

elevate the drain line over 10 feet above the unit.  If connection to a sewer line is necessary, check

the local code or a plumbing professional for guidance and the required parts.  Usually a trap with a

2” air gap will suffice.

2.  DO NOT

use a residential septic field for receiving the RO waste water from Vectapure™ RSX II

systems unless the field has a rated capacity in excess of the waste flow capacity.   If used to 24-

hour capacity, these systems will produce between 360 to 930 USG (1360 to 3500 litres) per day of

wastewater and will waterlog smaller septic beds.

Step 8. Installing the Permeate Water Connection.

a.

Plumbing to an Open Tank:

This type of system generally is used when the peak flow rate

required is in excess of 30 gallons. You will require a holding tank, re-pressurization pump, check

valve, pressure switch, air bladder tank and a float switch. Using 3/8” tubing, connect to the top

of the permeate flow meter. Connect the other end of the tubing to the tank. See Figure 4a for a

general schematic of this type of connection.

b.  Connecting to an Air Bladder Tank:

This type of system generally is used when the peak flow rate

required is less than 30 gallons. For this type of installation order the Permeate Shutoff Option when

purchasing your RSX II. Connect the tubing to the top of the Permeate Flow meter. Connect the

other end to the tee on the bladder tank. This system requires a check valve, pressure switch, and

bladder tank only and is detailed in Figure 4b

!

ALWAYS MAINTAIN OR INSTALL A 2” AIR GAP ON ALL DRAIN LINES TO PREVENT SEWAGE

BACK-SIPHONAGE.
