Vertical Illumination Alignment, See Figure 9.
1)
To center the incident or vertical lamp put a small piece of paper and
place it on the stage. Take out one objective from the nosepiece and
rotate the nosepiece until this objective opening hole is in position
over the paper.
2)
Turn the incident (upper) illumination on and adjust the lamp
intensity control to establish sufficient light.
3)
This paper will allow for focusing of the lamp filament on the paper.
Refer to Figure 2 for this step. Reduce the aperture iris diaphragm,
using the adjustment lever and rotate the lamp focusing control on
the lamp housing until a sharp image of the lamp filament is attained.
4)
Refer to Figure 6 for this step.
If the filament image is not
centered in the overpass hole,
loosen the lamp set screw and
move the bulb socket with the
lamp centering knob to obtain a
uniform image. Retighten the set
screw.
