It is important, from a safety point of
view, that all parts are clean and dry.
Clean and dry the ignition cables and

distributor cover, loosen the distributor cover and
clean and dry inside. Spray inside and outside, using
a moisture-repellant spray. Replace any damaged or
worn parts.

Install new spark plugs. If the engine is
equipped with breaker points, these
should be replaced, if necessary.  Also

replace the condenser. Clean and dry the ignition
cables and distributor cover. Let an authorized Volvo
Penta workshop overhaul the ignition point setting, if
you do not have access to special tools.
