PS-1152A Linearly Regulated Power Supply Unit
Item No. 51 18 05
INTENDED USE
1.
The power supply unit is intended for the connection and operation of low voltage loads with an operating
voltage of 1.5 to 15 VDC via 4mm safety sockets.
The current consumption of the connected consumer load must not exceed 1.5 A. If exceeded, the power
supply unit may overload. If the power supply overloads, e.g. due to a short-circuit or excessive current draw,
the output will be shut off to avoid damage. After removing the overload, the power supply unit can be put back
into operation.
The power supply unit complies with protection class 1. It is only approved for connection to a mains socket
with protective earthing and a normal AC voltage of 230V 50Hz.
This product fulfils European and national requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
CE conformity has been verified and the relevant statements and documents have been deposited at
the manufacturer.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and lead to
associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions thoroughly
and keep them for further reference.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIoNS
2.
We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury if the
product has been abused in any way or damaged by improper use or failure to observe
these operating instructions. The warranty/ guarantee will then expire!
The icon with exclamation mark indicates important information in the operating
instructions. Carefully read the whole operating instructions before operating the device,
otherwise there is risk of danger.
This device left the manufacture’s factory in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in these
operating instructions to preserve this condition and to ensure safe operation. Please observe
the following symbols:
Note! Read the operating instructions!
The product is CE compliant and meets the requirements of the current European
and national guidelines.
Terminal for the internal protective earth conductor; this screw/contact must not be
unscrewed.

Personal safety
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children!
•
The power supply unit is not designed for application to human beings or animals.
•
Product safety
The device must not be opened. When you open covers or remove parts – unless you can do
•
this by hand – parts carrying current can be exposed. Capacitors inside the device may still be
charged, even if the device has been disconnected from all voltage sources.
Do also observe the safety and operating instructions of devices which you connect to the unit
•
as well as those you find in individual chapters of these operating instructions.
Never touch the device when your hands are wet or damp. There is the risk of a fatal electric
•
shock.
Power supply units and connected loads must not be operated unattended.
•
Only use fuses of the rated type and current. It is absolutely prohibited to use repaired fuses.
•
Avoid using uninsulated metallic leads.
In industrial facilities, the safety regulations laid down by the professional trade association for
•
electrical equipment and facilities must be adhered to.
Power supply units used at schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself and hobby workshops
•
should not be handled unless supervised by trained, responsible personnel.
The device will warm up during operation. Make sure sufficient ventilation is provided; the
•
housing must not be covered! Do not touch the cooling element on the rear side during
operation. Risk of burns!
Never turn on the device immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm
•
one. Condensation water that forms might destroy your device. Leave the device switched off
and wait until it has reached room temperature.
When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety
•
notices of connected devices.
The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress.
•
The product must not be exposed it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, intense vibration,
•
or dampness.
Operation under unfavourable ambient conditions is not permitted. Unfavourable ambient
•
conditions are:
Excessive humidity or dampness
-
Dust and combustible gases, vapours or solvents.
-
Thunderstorms or similar conditions such as strong electrostatic fields etc.
-
If you have a reason to believe that the device can no longer be operated safely, disconnect
•
it immediately and secure it against being operated unintentionally. Safe operation must be
presumed to be no longer possible if:
the device is visibly damaged,
-
the unit no longer operates and
-
if it has been stored for long periods of time under unfavourable conditions or
-
if it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
-
Miscellaneous
Repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist workshop.

FUNCTIoNAL DESCRIPTIoN
4.
The DC output of the power supply unit is electrically isolated and features protective separation from mains
voltage.
The output voltage can be adjusted from 1.5 V to 15 V DC using the voltage control (5); current limiting is not
possible. The actual output voltage is shown in the moving coil instrument (6).The DC connection is possible
via two coloured 4mm safety sockets (3 and 4).
The power supply unit is cooled by convection; make sure sufficient ventilation and space is provided.
The power supply unit is equipped with an overload protection circuit. This circuit is
activated when the maximum permissible current is exceeded due to an overload or short
circuit. It will electronically reduce the output voltage to avoid damage to the power supply
unit.
