12.3 AC (“V
”) / DC (‘V
”) voltage measurement
1. Switch on the DMM and select “
V
" mode.
Æ
“DC” will show on the display.
Æ
For lower voltages up to max. 400 mV, select the “
mV
” measuring range.
2. Press
SEL
/
to switch to ACV mode.
Æ
“AC” will show on the display.
3. Plug the red lead into the
V
terminal and the black lead into the
COM
terminal.
4. Connect the two measuring probes in parallel to the object that you want to
measure (e.g. generator or circuit).
Æ
The measurement will appear on the display.
5. After taking a measurement, remove the leads from the measured object and
switch off the DMM.
The “V/AC” range has an input resistance of ≥10 MΩ. This means that
there is almost no load on the circuit.
If “-” appears in front of a direct voltage measurement, this indicates that
the measured voltage is negative (or that the measuring probes have
been connected in reverse).
The “V DC/AC” voltage range has an input resistance of >10 MOhm; the
“mV DC” range has an input resistance of >100 MOhm.
