Note:
When
MFBEN
is turned to
OFF
, MPU-401 on the EMU8000 synth cannot be emulated in
pure DOS. AWE64 built-in MPU-401 host controller is enabled and can be routed to Wave Blaster
header or Game/MIDI port via the «
MIDI Host Routing
» switch.
To use the default Creative AWE64 built-in MPU-401 for processing MIDI In/Out messages by
Wave Blaster header make the following steps:
1)
Set the «
MFBEN (MIDI FeedBack Enable)
» switch on the back of the card to
OFF (1)
position.
2)
Set the «
MIDI Host Routing
» switch on the back of the card to
ON
position. This will route built-in
MPU-401 host controller to Wave Blaster header.
3)
Move HardMPU from default IRQ_2/9 to any free IRQ (for example, IRQ_7) using the «
HardMPU
IRQ Select
» switch.
4)
Move HardMPU from default port 330h to any free port (for example, 300h) using the «
HardMPU
Port Select
» switch.
Now AWE64 MPU-401 host controller will be handling your MIDI daughterboard, connected to Wave
Blaster header.
Note:
MFBEN
switch must be
disabled
in order for the AWE64 built-in MPU-401 host controller
to function

for Intelligent mode to function
