Connecting the Hoses
□
Determine a suitable hose routing path from the bulkhead fittings installed
in section 5
to the WHASP tank.
•
Measure the length from the bulkhead fittings to the air/oil inlet, oil
return, and 1/4 in scavenge ports on the WHASP tank along the
determined routing path ( Figure 47).
•
The system is supplied with generic length hoses to connect the
bulkhead fittings to the tank. These are the 3/4 in x 28 in and 3/8 in x
28 in hoses with the 90° crimp fittings on 1 end, and the straight 1/4
in x 25 in PTFE tube.
•
Based on the installation location of the cooler/separator tank these
hose lengths may not be ideal. They can be shortened or replaced
as necessary, or hose extenders can be used.
•
VMAC recommends shortening these hoses as a preferred
alternative to coiling up and securing the excess. Shorter hose
length will maximize system performance .

Route and connect the straight ends of the 3/4 in x 28 in, 3/8 in x 28 in,
and 1/4 in x 25 in PTFE hoses to the top side of the bulkhead fittings.
□
Connect the 90° fitting on the 3/4 in x 28 in hose to the #12 JIC fitting on
the upper cooler (above the fan, air/oil inlet) (Figure 47).

Connect the 90° fitting on the 3/8 in x 28 in hose to the #6 JIC fitting near
the bottom of the oil filter end of the tank (oil return fitting) (Figure 47).
□
Connect the other end of the 1/4 in x 25 in tube to the fitting near the
coalescing filter (1/4 in scavenge fitting) (Figure 47).
□
Connect the output fitting (#8
male JIC) to the remainder of the customer’s
air system (hose not supplied).
□
Secure all hoses, tubes, and wires with cable ties.
VMAC recommends using a receiver tank with this system.
Follow
the instructions on page 83 of this manual to prevent
damage to the system.
