EXAMPLE 1:
To test the 12V supply to a TV masthead amplifier.
1.
Disconnect the masthead amplifier from the power
supply.
2.
Connect the TV/SAT Power Tester to the power supply
(source).
3.
Check the voltage is correct
4.
If the voltage is correct, connect the masthead amplifier to
the TV/SAT Power Tester (Load).
5.
Press the red test button. Check the voltage and current
display
6.
If the voltage displayed is now lower than at {step 4.} or
the current is higher than the masthead amplifier ratings
label, there is a fault in the installation.
7.
The fault is most likely found at a connection, such as a
whisker of coaxial cable braid shorting across the centre
conductor. The fault could also be a faulty PSU or
masthead amplifier.
