EXAMPLE 3:
To test the LNB input of an IRS installation when
powered by an EV5-100T launch amplifier or similar
1.
We recommend this test is accomplished with the output of the
amplifier disconnected from the system network. Disconnect
the four LNB feeds from the dish.
2.
Connect the TV/SAT Power Tester DC IN (Source) to the
amplifier input marked H: Lo (green). Check the voltage display
is showing 18V.
3.
If the voltage is correct, connect the TV/SAT Power Tester DC
OUT (Load) to the LNB feed marked H: Lo (green cable).
4.
Press the red test button. Check the voltage and current display
5.
If the voltage displayed is now lower than at point c) or the
current is higher than the ratings label of the LNB, there is a
fault in the installation.
6.
The fault is most likely found at a connection point, such as a
whisker of coaxial cable braid shorting across the centre
conductor at a connector. The fault could also be a faulty LNB.
7.
If the voltage drops below 18V when the LNB is connected it is
also possible that the power supply has failed as it is unable to
deliver enough power.
