16. DIMMER: brightness setting of the display
Use this button to lower the brightness of the dis-
play (4) or switch off the display.
17. DIRECT
Once this knob is pressed, a known radio station
frequency can be input directly using the numeri-
cal keys (21) when in radio mode.
18. AUTO MUTE
This activates or deactivates the volume mute
during the manual search process in radio mode
and suppresses noise from interference between
stations.
19. AM/FM
This button is used to select one of the frequency
bands, AM (medium wave) or FM (VHF). A suitab-
le antenna for each mode must be connected to
the appliance (10)(11).
20. TUNING MODE
This allows you to choose between three settings
which determine the function of the keys “TUNING
MODE” (2)(20): “MANUAL” (manual frequency
search), “AUTO” (automatic frequency search) or
“PRESET” (change between stations stored in the
memory).
21. Number keys
Buttons 0-9 let you input the frequency or select a
station from the memory.
22. MEMORY
This button enables the presets in the memory to
be stored in tuner mode.
23. ST/MONO
In tuner mode, you can change between the stati-
on’s stereo and mono reception. If a station’s
reception is of low quality in stereo, the sound qua-
lity can be increased by the “MONO” setting.
24. TUNING PRESET UP/DOWN
These keys are used to set a radio station in tuner
mode. The function of these keys are determined
by the setting made with the button “TUNING
MODE” (2)(20).
25. RDS MODE
This button can be used in FM mode to switch on
RDS (Radio Data System) for stations that support
this service. The RDS feature allows various radio
station text services to be shown on the applian-
ce’s display (4).
