BASIC FUNCTIONS AND SETTINGS
OPERATING THE APPLIANCE
Operation
Button(s) Description
Switch on and off
POWER (7)
The amplifier is switched on and off using this button at the front panel, there
is no standby option. When switched off the device is internally separated
from the AC power. As a precaution, before switching on, the volume setting
of your system’s amplifier and the headphone volume (9) should be redu-
ced. Once it is switched on, the “WARM UP” LED (1) lights up and the devi-
ce needs a few seconds until it is ready for operation. It is ready when the
warm-up LED has gone out.
Change the level of the
analogue audio outputs
(14) at the rear panel
VOL+ (34)
VOL- (35)
This function may only be activated with the remote control and only during
playback. This control is to allow the adaptation of the player to the system
(mainly the amplifier) and it must not be used to change the volume of the CD
player in daily use. It is sufficient for almost all amplifiers/receivers/preampli-
fiers to put the setting to the maximum and to leave it there. A different value
is only used if the CD player is much louder compared with the other sources
at the amplifier/receiver or it is distorted (clipping). Hold down the “VOL+”
button to raise the output level. Use the “VOL-” to reduce it. The two-figure
value of the volume appears in the display. The maximum signal level is rea-
ched with a setting of 26 and the minimum is at 00. This volume control has
no effect on the volume of the headphones (8) connected to the CD player.
It changes the output level of all analogue outputs to the same extent. The
HDCD signal is only decoded, if the volume is set to the maximum 26.
Volume of the connec-
ted headphones (8)
LEVEL (9)
This function can only be operated on the front of the device. Turn the dial
“LEVEL” clockwise to increase the volume in the headphones and anticlockwise
to reduce the volume. This volume control has no effect on the output level of the
analogue “AUDIO OUTPUTS” (14) on the back of the device.
Change the brightness
of the front panel
display
DIMMER (18)
This function can only be operated using the associated remote control but-
ton. When repeatedly pressed, the display (10) brightness is periodically
reduced (1x), switched off (2x) and restored to the original, maximum bright-
ness (3x).
