GSM Dual Band GSM/GPRS 900/1800 MHz transmitter/receiver mod-
ule for By-alarm control panel, sending digital messages with Contact
ID protocol, voice mail, SMS text messages, the possibility of user
telemanagement by telephone or GSM mobile phone using SMS text
messages and by voice with vocal guidance, By-alarm control integra-
tion (By-phone APP).
The device should be installed on the control panel and enables automatically sending
all alarm, failure or fault communications over the GSM network and to any telephone
number, with the following methods of communication:
• Contact ID standard protocol for digital signalling with reception and surveillance
centres.
• SMS text messages to mobile phones. Messages already in the module enable
signalling any control panel event.
• If the control panel also has the voice synthesis module installed, the GSM module
can signal all the events by voice too.
The GSM module also lets the user activate the RFA-SMS function used for teleman-
agement of the control panel via simple SMS text messages.
Note: We recommend using a SIM card on a contract basis.
The GSM transmitter/receiver module works only with SIM cards for a 2G connection
and without an unlocking PIN code.
ATTENTION: Would customers please note that Vimar cannot guarantee the
operation of the residual credit verification service on SIM cards, as this fun-
ction depends on the operating choices of the individual mobile phone operator.

GSM MODULE INSTALLATION IN THE CONTROL PANEL
On 01700-01700.120 and 01703-01703.120 control panels the GSM module
01706 should be inserted directly on the motherboard by performing the following
procedures.
Installation
The circuit of the module 01706 has to be inserted directly on the board of the control
panel by engaging the appropriate connectors on CN1 and CN2 (indicated on the
installer sheet and in the installation manual of the control panel).
1) Insert the card by aligning the module connectors with those on the board of the
control panel.
2) Gently press until fully inserted.
Connecting the aerial
The aerial must be mounted outside the enclosure of the control panel through the
special hole, screwing it tight with the specific nut.
Caution: The aerial must not be left free or the interference generated by the GSM
transmission could interact with the operation of the control panel.
Inserting the SIM card
In order to prevent faults, completely disconnect the power supply to the control panel
before inserting the SIM card into the slot.
a) To insert or replace the SIM, open the slider by moving the catch securing it on the
bottom to the right.
b) Insert the SIM fully into the slider.
c) Close the slider by lowering it completely and fasten it by moving the catch to the left.
Caution: To assure compliance with EN 50131-10 and EN 50136-2 standards, the
periodic communication must take place every 25 hours. To this end, program the
SELF-TEST PERIOD parameter (Controls/Power Supply menu of the keypad 01705)
to a value of 25 and then select the phone numbers for receiving the communica-
tion (Phone/Linked events/Self-test menu of the keypad 01705). For further details,
please see the control panel programming manual.
Caution: When installing in places with a weak signal, use the accessory aerial
art. 01707.
