Service Diagnostics and Procedures
Infrared Igniter
The unit uses a spark igniter to create ignition of
the burners. When the ignition switch is depressed,
the ignition module sends power to the igniter, and
ignites the gas supplied by the burner valve.
To access the igniter:
1.
Access control panel components
(see Control Panel Components Access section).
Disconnect wiring and remove control panel.
2. Locate infrared Igniter(s)
3. Remove grill grates and flavor generator plates.
4.
Remove two screws securing igniter cover,
remove igniter cover.
5.
Remove screw securing igniter.
6. Disconnect wiring and slide igniter out.
7. Reverse procedure to reassemble.
If the igniter fails to spark, first do a resistance
check on the igniter. If the igniter shows 0
Ω
, check
ignition module, wiring, and battery. If power is
supplied to the igniter and no spark, replace the
igniter.
