Pen dent Sprin klers are small, sol der link
and le ver spray sprin klers de signed for
in stal la tion on con cealed pipe sys tems.
Equipped with a spe cial de flec tor, the
sprin kler is de signed to meet Light-Haz -
ard den sity re quire ments for spe cific ex -
tended ar eas of cov er age when the re -
quired min i mum wa ter sup ply is pro -
vided at the sprin kler.
Af ter the sprin kler sys tem has been
tested and the ceil ing fin ish ap plied, the
sprin kler is hid den from view by a low-
pro file, small di am e ter cover plate, in -
stalled flush to the ceil ing. The cover
plate is avail able in sev eral dec o ra tive
fin ishes to meet de sign re quire ments.
The “push-on”, “thread-off” de sign al lows
for easy in stal la tion of the cover plate, with
up to 1/2" (12,7 mm) of ver ti cal ad just -
ment. The “thread-off” fea ture is de signed
to pre vent un wanted dis en gage ment of
the cover as sem bly. The cover as sem bly
can be re moved and re in stalled to per mit
tem po rary re moval of ceil ing pan els with -
out tak ing the sprin kler sys tem out of ser -
vice and re mov ing the sprin kler.

Con cealed Sprin kler, the de flec tor and
seal ing as sem bly are held in po si tion by
a fast-acting heat-sensitive fus ible link.
The sprin klers are listed as quick re -
sponse sprin klers when in stalled ac -
cord ing to the listed 16 ft. x 16 ft. (4,9 m x
4,9 m) or 18 ft. x 18 ft. (5,5 m x 5,5 m)
spac ing. (Re fer to the ap proval chart on
page 58 d for ad di tional list ing.)
Dur ing fire con di tions, when the tem per -
a ture around the sprin kler ap proaches
its op er at ing tem per a ture, the cover
plate de taches. Con tinued heat ing of
the ex posed sprin kler causes the fus ible
link to dis en gage, re leas ing the de flec -
tor and seal ing as sem bly. Wa ter flow ing
through the sprin kler or i fice strikes the
de flec tor, form ing a uni form spray pat -
tern to ex tin guish or con trol the fire.
