The zoom values [-pixel] resp. [-lines] are differences to the size of the input picture.

The input image has 576 lines. A value of -1 enlarges a bit,
a value of -288 enlarges the image by a factor of 2.
Valid values: input pixels (or lines) >= input pixels (or lines) +value >= 16 (zero or negative only).
