Cleaning
Removing dust with cloths
●
generally inside the module
●
particular attention to be given to:
-
the alternator
’s inlet air and extract air grilles
-
the battery
-
the exhaust gas outlet (non-insulated end of the
exhaust gas line)
Contamination caused by glass wool
●
occurs when the insulation of hot parts is defective
●
when cleaning contamination caused by glass wool
wear rubber gloves and mouth protection.
●
check the extract ventilator in particular and clean
it, if necessary
●
dispose of defective insulation material from hot
parts in plastic bags with drawstrings.
Contamination caused by engine oil
●
caused by the separation of oil in the air filter, runs
out from the hose into the drip pan under the en-
gine unit
●
apply protective crème to your hands before you
begin with the cleaning work.
●
remove the oil contamination with kitchen paper
towels, cloths, Citrus cleaning agent or brake
cleaner
●
dispose the contaminated cloths in the special
refuse only
●
in the case of larger modules check also the floor
pan and clean it, if necessary
●
find leakages (if the oil cooler is leaking)
●
wash off the protective crème after you have fin-
ished work and apply skin-care crème
WARNING
When handling engine lubrication oil
wear protective gloves and goggles.
Observe the safety data sheet (can be
obtained from the lubrication oil suppli-
ers).
If having been in contact with engine oil:
•
Objects
Wipe off any spillage with an absorbent material
and dispose it as special refuse. Change oil-
soaked clothing and shoes. Do not put oil-soaked
cloths into your pockets.

Skin
Wash the skin with water and soap or with a spe-
cial hand cleaning paste and brush the relevant
parts of the body, if necessary. Do not use petrol,
solvents and suchlike as washing agents and treat
the skin with fat-containing skin-care crème there-
after.
•
Eyes
Cover the eyes and seek medical advice immedi-
ately.
