Operation
STEP 1:
◼
Ensure you understand all the information described in Chapters
‘
Safety
’
and
‘
Maintenance
’
before assembling and operating the Flail mower/mulcher.
STEP 2:
◼
With the Flail mower/mulcher positioned on level ground, adjust the tractor lift arms so that
the rotor bar remains parallel to the ground when lifted.
STEP 3:
◼
With the Flail mower/mulcher hooked to the tractor, raise and support the mower with
suitable wooden blocks. Check the skids and rear roller height on both sides. Correct as
described.
Ensure that the height adjustments on both sides are the same.
STEP 4:
◼
Raise the mower, remove the blocks and place the mower on the ground.
STEP 5:
◼
Start the tractor. With the tractor engine at idle speed and the mower lifted off the ground,
engage PTO and slowly advance the throttle to 540 PTO rpm. Lower rpm can damage the Flail
mower/mulcher if material jams and stops rotation.
STEP 6:
◼
Select a low gear for the tractor speed and begin to move forward. The tractor ground speed is
controlled by gear selection only and not by engine speed. As the tractor moves forward,
slowly lower the mower down. Allow the mower tines to engage the ground gradually.
