General
This manual describes how to set up a Vicon VN-NVR workstation (NVR) or
Kollector® Hybrid Digital Video Recorder (DVR) with a VN-SAN Nexsan®
SATABoy® or SATABeast® network storage unit. The scope of this manual
is to unpack and install the units, connect the VN/SAN to the NVR or DVR
and ensure ViconNet® is mapped to the VN/SAN storage unit. Note that the
NVRs will require to be registered before you can check the mapping. DVRs
are preregistered at the factory.
Note: This manual does not provide instructions on configuring the VN-SAN
unit to work with the DVR or NVR. The units are preconfigured at the factory.
If your units require configuration, refer to XX215-20.
Prerequisites
The following is required to set up the units:

Vicon DVR or NVR installation and operation manuals
„
Nexsan manuals for SATABeast and SATABoy
„
Netswitch and required cabling
„
NVR or DVR must have two RJ-45 network ports

system capacity, units ordered, etc. The instructions provided are general
and may not address your specific installation.
