Update Via VST Web Browser UI

The following procedure is used to update VST Firmware when the Module has been 

installed in a Chassis other than the CMP mA-130x AXIe Chassis. Read this procedure in 

its entirety before proceeding.

How to Update Software using VST Web UI

1

Download the software .tar.gz or .tgz file from VIAVI Solutions website to a local 

directory.

Burn tar file to CD.

3

Connect external CD-ROM device to mA-3011 Embedded Host module, via a 

Y-Cable or cable with 2 USB connectors, and then insert CD-ROM into external 

CD-ROM drive.

Navigate to System Update Page.

Access: Main Menu > System Update

5

Change Update Mode to File Path.

6

Update file path to point to CD-ROM.

7

Press Check for Update Button. Wait while VST Shelf Manager queries the software 

location.

If a more current version of software is identified, the Update Button is enabled. 

Press the Update Button.

9

Wait while the VST Shelf Manager performs the update. Do not interrupt this 

process.

NOTE

A Y-cable or dual USB connectors is required to draw enough current to power external 

CD-ROM device.

NOTE

When the update is complete disconnect the CD-ROM device.
