10.1.12 V-SCAN
The V-SCAN function allows users to monitor the health or status of individual channels/tributaries in a real-life mixed-payload
OTU2, SDH or SONET signals.
First, configure the test set to match the optical interface type and rate (for example, OTN, SDH or SONET). Supported rates are
OTU2, STM-64, STM-16, STM-4, STM-1, OC-48, OC-12, and OC-3. Note that some hardware configurations may not support
the lower rates (STM-16, STM-4, STM-1, OC-48, OC-12, and OC-3) and the test set will show a warning message that “V-
SCAN does not apply to the current configuration.”
Connect the test set’s receiver to a monitoring point and verify that the signal LED is green and that the received signal is within
the receiver’s range. Avoid marginal signals or saturation as they may induce errors that are not necessarily present in the line
under test.
