2.0 Introduction to TX300 Series

TX300 series test sets are the industry's smallest portable test solutions for OTN, SDH/SONET, PDH/DSn and
Ethernet/Metro Transport and Core Networks carrying Data, Voice, and Video. The units are lightweight, rugged and weather
resistant, featuring OTN, SDH/SONET, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel test ports. The TX300, TX300e, TX300M and TX300S are
part of the TX product family. The International (TX300e) and North American version (TX300) of the test set offer near identical
test features and ports, with two main differences:
North American version (TX300) features Bantam connectors for DS1 and E1 interfaces
International version (TX300e) features RJ connectors for DS1 and E1 interfaces
Test Interfaces
for both units can be configured for:
Ethernet Single Port Operation
Single port 10GE (10 GE XFP Port 1)
Single Copper port 1GE (1 GE Copper Port 1)
Single Fiber port 1GE (1 GE Fiber Port 1)
Ethernet Dual Port Operation
When the dual port interfaces and software options are enabled, the test set can operate a combination of two ports at the
same time with the following physical port operation combinations:
Dual port - 10GE and Copper 1GE (10 GE XFP Port 1 and 1 GE Copper Port 2)
Dual port - 10GE and Fiber 1GE (10 GE XFP Port1 and 1 GE Fiber Port 2)
Dual Copper port 1GE (1 GE Copper Port 1 and 1 GE Copper Port 2)
Dual Fiber port 1GE (1 GE Fiber Port 1 and 1 GE Fiber Port 2)
Dual Copper Fiber port 1GE (1 GE Copper Port 1 and 1 GE Fiber Port 1)
Note:
The configuration parameters (header, bandwidth, etc.) for each application (on each of the ports) are completely
independent from one another. All test feature combinations are allowed and completely independent (Loopback, BERT,
Throughput, RFC2544, V-SAM) in dual port operation. However, some advanced tools like VoIP, IPTV, VLAN scan, Packet
Capture are only available in single port testing mode. The User Interface will provide an error message when a feature is not
available in dual port operation.

Pass Through Monitor Operation
Pass Through Monitor Copper 1GE ( 1 GE Copper Port 1 and 1 GE Copper Port 2)
Pass Through Monitor Fiber 1GE (1 GE Fiber Port 1 and 1 GE Fiber Port 2)
Pass through monitor mode enables bidirectional monitoring between the two 1000Base-X ports or the two
10/100/1000 Base-T ports
Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB)
Single Copper port 1GE (1 GE Copper Port 1)
Single Fiber port 1GE (1 GE Fiber Port 1)
OTN/SDH/SONET
Dual DS1/E1 (120 ohm balanced)
Single DS3, E1/E2/E3/E4, STM-0STS-1, STS-3/STM-1E (75 ohm unbalanced)
