OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
This jack should be operated in an upright position and cannot be used where side or downward force is
required. The working temperature ranges from –5°C to +45°C. A hydraulic bottle jack should not be used in
places where acids, alkalis, or corrosive gases exist.
•
Before operating, estimate the weight of the load to be lifted so the hydraulic jack is not overloaded.
•
Lifting: Use the handle to tighten the knob of the oil release valve. Twist the adjusting screw to the
desired height. Insert the handle into the lever linkage assembly and pump the handle up and down to
lift the load.
•
Lowering: Use the handle to loosen the oil release valve.
•
Adding Oil: Set the jack upright. Pull out the oil fill plug (located on the side of the jack) and add oil up
to the level of the plug.
•
Put the jack on stable ground. If the ground is not stable, use wood blocks to stabilize the jack.
•
Once the load is lifted to the proper height, support the load with jack stands to prevent injury should
the jack fail.
•
If several jacks are being used at the same time, the lifting speed should be synchronized and the load
on each jack should be balanced to prevent the load from tipping.
•
After operation, press the piston rod and the pump plunger rod down to keep them clean and to
prevent rusting.
•
If the piston rod rises automatically when it is pressed down, open the plug to bleed the air.
NOTE: DO NOT OPERATE THE HYDRAULIC BOTTLE JACK IN TEMPERATURES COLDER THAT –
5°C AS OIL WILL THICKEN AND NOT FLOW PROPERLY
