12.1 Cleaning the window and fuel effect (without removing the fascia).

Important: Before commencing work read the safety notes at the start of

section 12.

1.

Unscrew and remove the two screws that

are under the fascia canopy (See figure 16).

2.

Pull the top of the window surround

forward (See figure 16).

3.

Lift the window surround up to clear the

slots in the fascia apron (See figure 16). Put

the surround in a safe place.

4.

Remove the window unit by removing the

screws each side of the window frame and

lift the window unit clear.

5.

After cleaning, replace and secure the

window unit using the two screws removed

previously. Replace the surround. Make sure

that the outside edges of the window

surround sides are inside the fascia.

Ceramic fuel effect.

Although light coatings of soot are usually

burnt off during normal use, the ceramic fuel

effect will benefit from an annual clean.

Should any soot accumulation become

excessive, the fuel effect piece should be

removed from the fire for cleaning. Cleaning should be

carried out in a well ventilated area or in the open air by

gently brushing with the pieces held away from your

face so that you avoid inhaling the dust.

During installation and servicing we recommend that

you use a HEPA filtered vacuum to remove any dust and

soot accumulated in and around the fire before and after

working on the fire. We do not recommend the use of a

normal domestic vacuum cleaner which may blow dust

back into the air (See the notes at the start of section

12).

When replacing the ceramic fuel effect, make sure that

it rests on the ledges at the sides of the firebox and that

its back face is touching the horizontal rib at the back of

the firebox (See figure 17).

Replace the window and surround after cleaning.
