4. Setting up
4.1. Checking the hardware
1.
Make sure that the delivery is consistent with the
order.
2.
Make sure that the device has not suffered any
damage during transport.
4.2. Installing
Install the sensor and TCU as instructed in Chapter 3
of this manual.
4.3. Checking the cable connections
1.
Make sure that the power supply cable is correctly
connected.
2.
Make sure that the current outputs are correctly
connected.
3.
Make sure that the sensor cable is correctly con-
nected.
4.4. Checking electric operation
1.
Connect power to the system.
2.
Make sure that the TCU display lights up and
shows text. Normally the main display will soon
appear. If a device has been replaced, the program
may ask the user to start calibration. In such cases,
select calibration of the unit (Sensor elec-
ronics/TCU) that was not replaced.
3.
Allow the device to warm up for one hour before
starting it up.
4.5. Configuration and calibration
1.
Choose the language, temperature unit (Celsi-
us/Fahrenheit) and total solids content unit (TS%
or g/l) as instructed in Chapter 6.2.
2.
Set the correct date and time to the device as in-
structed in Chapter 6.4.
3.
Scale the current outputs as instructed in Chapter
6.1.
4.
Calibrate the total solids content as instructed in
Chapters 7.1 and 7.2.
After these procedures the Valmet TS is ready to
start measurement.
