when running “live”, you want to quit instead of rewriting the configuration registers, just type “q”.
The above-described live insertion method (typing “1” to restore configuration space to each newly
inserted board) should work for most live insertion applications.
Optionally, you may
store the
configuration space data to disk by running the command “live -s” from a command prompt, which will
now allow you to exit the program rather than having to keep the program running. You may then later
remove the board (be sure the slot power switch is off), and insert another (turning the switch on after
it is inserted), and restore the configuration registers in the newly inserted board by typing “live -w”
from the command prompt. Note that this disk file may only be used during the current boot of the
system. If the system is re-booted, some of the configuration data written to your board may change.
Therefore, on each system reboot, you should make a new disk file, and should not use the preexisting
live.dat file.
