Important Safety Instructions
READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Read this manual completely before attempting installation.
UV light is harmful to eyes and exposed skin.
All permanent electrical connections should be made by a qualified electrician.
Cord and plug connected units are designed to connect to a three prong grounding type recep-
tacle only. If the UltraPure
™
Automatic Water Cleaner
™
electrical connection is to be attached to
the pool controls, be sure the pool controls are protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter
(G.F.C.I.). If the UltraPure
™
Automatic Water Cleaner
™
is connected to an independent electrical
supply, a G.F.C.I. must be installed between the UltraPure
™
Automatic Water Cleaner
™
and the
electrical supply.
Do not bury cord.
Warning – To reduce the risk of electrical shock, replace damaged cord immediately.
Install at least 5 feet from wall of pool using non-metallic plumbing. Install the UltraPure
™
Automatic Water Cleaner
™
no less than 1 foot above maximum water level to prevent water from
contacting electrical equipment. Install in accordance with the installation instructions.
Follow all applicable electrical codes.
Electric shock hazard. Be sure to turn power OFF and disconnect from power source before any
service work is performed. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.
The UltraPure
™
Automatic Water Cleaner
™
must be installed in an outdoor location, or indoors in
a forced air ventilated room.
Warning – Short term inhalation of high concentrations of ozone and long term inhalation of low
concentrations of ozone can cause serious harmful physiological effects. DO NOT inhale ozone gas
produced by this device.
Ozone is considered toxic above certain concentrations and exposure time in the air. If the ozone
concentration in the water exceeds the equilibrium state, the excess ozone will be emitted into the
air. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has set a short term exposure limit of 0.3
ppm (0.6 mg/m3) and 0.2 ppm (0.2 mg/m3) time weighted average over 8 hours per day, five days
per week (see Warning – Short term inhalation above). There are ozone removal methods that may
be considered prior to the addition of the chemical disinfectant.
I. Degassing by means of aerated flow.
II. Granular activated carbon filter.
When the equipment is located in an enclosed room, adequate exhaust, in case of ozone releases,
is strongly recommended. The exhaust system should provide a minimum of three air changes per
hour to comply with OSHA limits. In addition, an ambient air ozone monitor should be installed.
Ozone systems, which operate under vacuum, should not present the danger of ozone leaks into the
treatment room.
