MAX-M10S - Integration manual

Action needed / Remarks
Digital IO
External IO isolation is required.
The output current of the digital IOs is
2 mA compared to 4 mA in MAX-M8
modules, except for the TIMEPULSE pin
that still provides drive strength of 4
mA.
Do not drive IOs when VCC and V_IO are not supplied. Removing
the VCC supply does not isolate the IO pins of the module from
the IO pins on the host device. If the IO pins are not isolated, the
GNSS receiver may get permanently damaged when high current
is drawn from the IO pins.
Additional external pull-up resistors may be required to increase
the drive strength of the digital IO output pin or adjust the load
accordingly.
Table 32: MAX-M10S hardware features compared to MAX-M8 modules
Migrating from MAX-M8W to MAX-M10S requires special care and may require some re-design
because pin 13 and pin 15 are different as shown in
. Consequently, pin 15 should be
left open (i.e. not connected) when migrating from MAX-M8W because there is no built-in antenna
supervisor support in MAX-M10S. Therefore in MAX-M10S, the active antenna supply and the
antenna supervisor circuitry (if used) needs to be connected externally as shown in
