10. Multiple-Channel Capture and Diversity
It is possible to capture traffic on multiple channels simultaneously. This might be necessary to observe
frequency hopping and frequency-agile systems. For each channel, a distinct ubisys IEEE 802.15.4
stick with Wireshark Firmware is required. Thus, to cover all channels in the 2.4GHz band, sixteen
sticks are required, which can be ordered as a bundle. Additional sticks are also beneficial to mitigate
the effects of multipath fading in indoor environments. In this case tune more than one stick to the same
channel.
While you could use multiple instances of Wireshark in order to run multiple captures and then merge
the captures files, it is often more convenient to group all sticks and run a single capture (on all sticks).
