TECHNICAL DATA
The 16.8 K-Factor, Model F892X De-
signer, Standard Response, Upright
Specific Application Storage Sprin-
klers are rated for use at a maximum
service pressure of 175 psi (12,1 bar).
They are available in the temperature
ratings and finishes indicated in Table
A.
The nominal flow “Q” in GPM (LPM) is
determined by the following formula:
where the nominal sprinkler discharge
coefficient “K” = 16.8 (241,9) and “p”
equals the residual flowing pressure in
psi (bar).
The Frame of the Model F892X Sprin-
klers, (Ref. Figure A), is a dezincifica-
tion resistant bronze. The Button is
bronze, and the Gasketed Spring Plate
is sealed on both its inside and outside
faces with a Teflon
gasket. The Com-
pression Screw and the Deflector are
brass. The standard response Model
F892X Sprinklers utilize a 5 mm di-
ameter frangible bulb. Table A indi-

•
16.8 K-Factor F892X Sprinklers, when acceptable to the Authority Having Jurisdiction, may be used to protect single, double, multi-
ple-row, or portable rack storage of Class I-IV commodity, encapsulated or non-encapsulated, as well as cartoned or uncartoned
unexpanded Group A or B plastics, or, cartoned expanded Group A or B plastics, with:
a storage height of up to 25 feet (7,6 m);
a maximum ceiling height of 30 feet (9,1 m);
a minimum deflector to top of storage clearance of 36 inches (0,9m);
a minimum design density of 0.80 gpm/ft
2
(32 mm/min);
a minimum “Reduced Design Area” of 2000 ft

NFPA spacing criteria for standard spray sprinklers, i.e. 12 feet (3,7 m)* maximum and 6 feet (1,8 m) minimum;
NFPA deflector-to-ceiling distances; and
NFPA obstruction criteria for standard spray sprinklers.
*12’-6" (3,8 m) is allowed in 25’-0" (7,6 m) wide bays.
2. Approved by Factory Mutual Research Corporation as follows:
•
16.8 K-Factor F892X Sprinklers are to be installed in accordance with the applicable “control-mode specific application” guidelines
provided by Factory Mutual. (FM guidelines may differ from UL and C-UL Listing criteria.)
