16.3 TRANSMITTING INTO A DUMMY LOAD
1.
Using the N-type male to TNC-type male RF coaxial jumper cable, connect the radio’s antenna
connector to the wattmeter’s input connector. Refer to Figure 16-1 as necessary.

Connect the 50-ohm dummy load to the wattmeter’s output connector, in place of the antenna cable
from the vehicle-mounted 700/800 MHz antenna.
A peak-power reading RF wattmeter equivalent to the wattmeter specified in Table
16-1 must be used. Do
not
use an average or RMS-responding wattmeter.

If not already, turn the radio on and set it to the OTP mode. Refer to Section 16.1 as necessary.
4.
Set the radio to a test talk group, if available.
