A tachymeter measures the speed at which the wearer has traveled
overa measured distance, i.e., a measured mile on the highway. For
example, start the chronograph when you pass the starting point and
stop it when you pass the finish. You can then read your speed in units
per hour off the tachymeter scale.
1) To begin, the chronograph must be reset to zero position by pressing
Button B (Fly-back/Reset). See “fly-back chronograph.”
2) Start the chronograph at the first mile or kilometer marker by press-
ing Button A (Start/Stop).
3) Stop the chronograph at the next mile or kilometer marker by press-
ing Button A (Start/Stop) again. The 4th center hand points to the
number of units (miles or kilometers) per hour on the tachymeter
scale.
N O T E :
The tachymeter scale can be used only when the time required to trav -
el the measured distance is 60 seconds or less. If travel time exceeds 60
seconds, measured distance must be reduced, for example: from a mile
to a half-mile.
