Choosing the right speed

The speed used will depend on the material to be cut.

• Use high speed to cut woods and similar materials such

as hardwood.

• Use medium speed to cut non- ferrous metals, plastic

and fiberglass.

• Use the low speed to cut ferrous metals like pipes or

steel angles.

• If the blade speed is too low for the job to do, the blade

could vibrate when starting to cut and could cause

kickback. When starting to cut use a light high speed. Is

always a good idea practicing cuts on scrap material until

having the right sensibility to cut and good handling of the

saw.

The thickness of the material and type of

blade will affect the speed selection. As a rule of thumb

use HIGHER SPEEDS and blades with the less teeth per

inch for softer metals. Use LOWER SPEEDS and blades

with more teeth per inch for thicker or dense materials.
