Maintenance and Adjustment
Throttle Control
1. Throttle grip
2. 2 - 3 mm
Inspection
Check that the throttle opens smoothly,
without undue force and that it closes without
sticking. Have your authorised Triumph
dealer check the throttle system if a problem
is detected or any doubt exists.
Check that there is 2 - 3 mm of throttle grip
free play when lightly turning the throttle grip
back and forth.
Warning
The throttle grip controls the throttle valves
in the throttle bodies. If the throttle cables
are incorrectly adjusted, either too tight or
too loose, the throttle may be difficult to
control and performance will be adversely
affected.
Check the throttle grip free play in
accordance with scheduled maintenance
requirements and make adjustments as
necessary.

Warning
Always be alert for changes in the 'feel' of
the throttle and have the throttle system
checked by an authorised Triumph dealer
if any changes are detected. Changes can
be due to wear in the mechanism, which
could lead to a sticking throttle.
An incorrectly adjusted, sticking or stuck
throttle will lead to loss of motorcycle
control and an accident.
Warning
Use of the motorcycle with incorrectly
adjusted, incorrectly routed, sticking or
damaged throttle cables will interfere with
the throttle function resulting in loss of
motorcycle control and an accident.
To avoid incorrect adjustment, incorrect
routing, or continued use of a sticking or
damaged throttle, always have your
throttle checked and adjusted by your
authorised Triumph dealer.
