Sensored Airway
EMITT-TMU has sensors in the airway to detect the insertion of airway adjuncts
and to respond appropriately. The system can detect if a tube is placed properly in
the trachea, in the right mainstem bronchi, or in the esophagus.
When attempting to bag ventilate, the system will respond according to the tube
placement. If it is placed correctly, both sides of the chest will inflate with
ventilation. If placed in the right mainstem, only the right side will inflate, and if
placed in the esophagus then neither side will inflate. EMITT-TMU will also
respond to BVM ventilation when placed in BVM mode using the remote-control
transmitter. This information, along with the bag ventilation rate, is also displayed
on the
Session Control
screen on the remote-control transmitter.
Simulated Infusible Intraosseous Sites
Humeral Infusion Site
The
Simulated Infusible Humeral Intraosseous Site
allows trainees to insert an
Intraosseous Infusion Introducer at this location. This site uses a multi-use,
infusible bone and skin plug, which is easily replaceable to accommodate repeated
simulations.
Infused fluids drain out the torso of the system.
Sternal Infusion Site
The
Simulated Infusible Sternal Intraosseous Site
allows trainees to insert an
Intraosseous Infusion Introducer at this location using a FAST1, TALON, or other
needle system (Figure 20). This site uses a multi-use, infusible bone and skin plug,
which is easily replaceable to accommodate repeated simulations.
