Because smoke rises, and to ensure that the smoke detector is activated as rapidly as
possible in the event of fire, it should be located in the ceiling at least 50 cm from a
wall. If ceiling mounting is not possible, it should be located near the top of a wall. If
the ceiling is sloping, it should be mounted about 90 cm from the highest point.
Unsuitable
locations are in corners, and near windows or exterior doors. The smoke
detector should preferably not be located in bathrooms, washrooms, kitchens, gara-
ges, or rooms with wide variations in temperature. Location near ventilation shafts is
also unsuitable because they can draw smoke away from the smoke detector.
ENGLISH
The range of the transmitter in the smoke detector is up to 30 m indoors, which
normally covers a house or apartment. In cases of doubt, the smoke detector should
be tested to determine the best location.
NOTE: Ask someone to hold down the TEST button, and ensure that the signal
reaches through to remote parts of the house.
Mounting smoke detector
First check whether another channel setting is needed (see p 6), then fit the smoke
detector. Screws and plugs are supplied in the package. The cover must be raised in
order to insert the screws. Remember to retest the smoke detector after fitting.
In case of fire
In the event of fire, the smoke detector will emit a high-pitched, continuous signal.
At the same time, the receiver installed in the Lynx system will be activated and will
issue a warning by vibration and symbols, loud noise, or flashing light, depending on
the type of receiver.
Read the user manual for the installed receiver!
Flat battery
When battery power begins to fail, the smoke detector will beep once a minute. At
the fifth beep, a flat-battery warning will be sent to the receiver in the Lynx system.
Change the battery at once (see p 3).
Read the user manual for the installed receiver!
If you do not change the battery, the smoke detector will continue to beep once a mi-
nute for several days. The transmitter will continue to issue the battery warning every
eight hours. Battery life depends among other things on type of battery. For alkaline
batteries, service life is about one year, and for lithium batteries up to 10 years. Make
a habit of changing the battery regularly. Ideally, write down the date on which each
new battery is installed.
