What is the “spread-squat” position?
Babies should be carried in a physiological spread-squat position. In this position, the child’s
knees are higher than its bottom, and the thighs are spread at roughly 90 degrees. This sup-
ports the healthy maturation of the hip joints. To achieve this posture, make sure that the gap
width for the leg position spans from the hollow of one of baby’s knees to the other but without
poking or chafing.
