Objective:
Playing with Sensidisc helps children practise tactile and visual
perception through sensory-motor activities. By feeling, the child
discovers various shapes and structures, which it learns to
recognise and describe. It also helps train the memory and develop
social skills.
Contents:
- 1 game board (48 x 20 cm).
- 10 discs (8 cm).
- 10 geometric shapes.
- 1 bag.
- instructions.
Possibilities:
Tactile Game 1 – individual game
Five different discs are taken from the board and placed in the bag.
The separate geometric shapes belonging to these discs and the
five other discs complete with their shapes remain on the board,
making it easier to search. By touch, the child now searches for the
discs that fit the equal set of discs and the separate geometric
shapes lying on the board. The child indicates the shape he or she
wants to start with (left or right) and then works in that sequence.
When the child believes it has found the right disc, it can try to fit it.
If it is the right disc, then the search starts for the next one. If the
disc does not fit, it is returned to the bag and the child tries again,
until the five discs have been placed in the correct sequence.
Tactile Game 2 – individual game
In this game all the discs are placed in the touch bag and the
accompanying geometric shapes are placed to one side. The
objective now is for the child to find five pairs of discs by touch.
Once, the child has selected one disc, it must then search the
matching disc to complete the pair. This continues in the same way
until all the pairs have been found. The accompanying geometric
shapes are then placed in the bag and the child searches by touch
all the shapes and places them in their correct positions.
