Important:
Windows XP or later has an internal security function to prevent an intruder break-in. This is done by
limiting the user who accesses a computer through the network as a [Guest] level. When an intruder
tries to enter a computer without privilege by guessing a password to get the privilege, either he fails
or he can obtain only an access level of limited [Guest] level.
However, the above setting changes the internal security of Windows XP or later and this setting
change results in a conventional Windows level security.
Be careful about the operating environment of a machine where OPC server is installed.
3.3. Windows Firewall
Windows XP Service Pack2 or later provides better protection against viruses, hackers, and
worms, and includes Windows Firewall, Pop-up Blocker for Internet Explorer, and the new
Windows Security Center.
There are two functions that have direct influence on the function of OPC which uses DCOM.
One is an addition of new properties for DCOM and the other is that Windows Firewall is
turned on by default.
To change the setting, it is necessary to log on as a user with Administrator privilege.
