Program 13
Defining the Message Centre
Program Type:
Station
Initialised Default:
No port assigned
Program 13 Overview
This program assigns a station as the Message Centre.
Each digital, electronic and standard telephone can receive a maximum of four message
waiting indications per [PDN]. One of these four is reserved for the designated Message
Centre. The Message Centre should be the customer’s main answering position.
Typically, the Message Centre is a voice mail device, a digital or electronic telephone with a
DSS console (DDSS or HDSS), or an add-on module. If incoming traffic to a DDSS or HDSS
console attendant is heavy, another station can be assigned as the Message Centre.
Notes
◆
The Message Centre is allowed to perform “Message Waiting,” even if disallowed
on all other stations.
◆
Assign the Message Centre to the customer’s main answering position: a station or
the lowest port (in VM group) of the customer’s voice mail device (
for voice mail group port assignments), whichever the customer specifies.
