Photography Using the Flash (continued)
[ ] Auto
In this mode, the flash fires automatically according to the photography conditions. This mode is ideal
for general photography where you are not trying to achieve any particular effect. However the auto
mode can not set in the Manual photography mode.
[ ] Red-Eye Forced Flash
[
] Forced Flash
[
] Suppressed Flash
• In [
], [
] or [
] mode, flash photography is not possible.
• In [
] mode, flash photography is fixed to red-eye auto.
• In [
] mode, flash photography is fixed to slow synchro.
• In the flash photography mode, the flash always fires twice. A picture is taken at the second firing.
The camera fires pre-flash lighting once before the main flash in order to reduce the red eye problem. In
Portrait mode, flash photography is fixed to red-eye auto. Red-eye is reduced mode effectively if the subject
looks directly towards the camera. Effectiveness is also increase if the distance between the subject and
camera is kept as short as possible.
The flash is forced to fire regardless of the brightness of subjects. Use the Forced Flash mode when the
subject is backlit, or in artificial light (fluorescent light, etc). The flash also fires during macro
photography.
The flash never fires regardless of the brightness of subjects. Use the Suppressed Flash mode when you are
taking pictures in indoor lightning at distances too great for the flash to have any effect, such as theater
performances or indoor sporting events.
