Equipment Inspection
If the motor has been exposed to a low
temperature, do not remove the coverings until
the motor has had sufficient time to attain a
temperature that is close to that of the room in
which it is to be unpacked.
Otherwise, when opened, moisture will
condense on the cold parts. This may reduce
the electrical resistance of the insulation or
cause rust or corrosion of metallic parts.
If the motor is to be stored in temperatures
below -15° C (5° F), this should be specified
during ordering to allow for the proper shipping
precautions and packaging.
• Upon receipt of the equipment, inspect the
packaging and equipment for shipping damage.
• Carefully unpack the motor and check for parts
that may have been damaged during shipping,
missing parts, or concealed damage.
• Check for scratches, dents, or rattles indicating
loose components, presence of oil, or any other
irregularities.
• If any discrepancies are discovered, it should
be noted with the carrier prior to accepting the
shipment, if possible. File a claim with the
carrier if necessary and immediately notify your
• DO NOT install the motor if it is damaged or if it
is missing any component(s).
