Important
Make sure that the fuel shut off valve is
closed before transporting or storing the machine, as fuel
leakage may occur. Set the parking brake before
transporting. Make sure to remove the key as the fuel pump
may run and cause the battery to lose charge.
Children or bystanders may be injured if they
move or attempt to operate the tractor while it is
unattended.
Always remove the ignition key and set the
parking brake when leaving the machine
unattended, even if just for a few minutes.
Caution
Operating the Power Take Off
(PTO)
The power take off (PTO) switch engages and disengages
power to the electric clutch.
Engaging the PTO
1. While seated in the seat, release the pressure on the
traction control levers and place in neutral.
2. Place the throttle into the fast position.
3. Pull out on the power take off (PTO) switch to engage
(Fig. 15).

Disengaging the PTO
To disengage, push the PTO switch to the Off position
(Fig. 15).
The Safety Interlock System
If safety interlock switches are disconnected or
damaged the machine could operate unexpectedly
causing personal injury.
•
Do not tamper with the interlock switches.
•
Check the operation of the interlock switches
daily and replace any damaged switches before
operating the machine.
Caution
Understanding the Safety Interlock
System
The safety interlock system is designed to prevent the
engine from starting unless:
•
You are sitting on the seat.
•
The parking brake is engaged.
•
The power take off (PTO) is disengaged.
•
The motion control levers are in the neutral lock
position.
The safety interlock system also is designed to stop the
engine when the traction controls are moved with the
parking brake on engaged or if you rise from the seat when
the PTO is on or engaged.
Testing the Safety Interlock System
Test the safety interlock system before you use the machine
each time. If the safety system does not operate as
described below, have an Authorized Service Dealer repair
the safety system immediately.
1. Sitting on the seat, engage the parking brake, and move
the PTO On. Try starting the engine; the engine should
not crank.
2. Sitting on the seat, engage the parking brake, and move
the PTO to Off. Move either motion control lever
(forward or reverse). Try starting the engine; the engine
should not crank. Repeat for the other motion control
lever.
3. Sitting on the seat, engage the parking brake, move the
PTO to Off, and lock the motion control levers in
neutral. Now start the engine. While the engine is
running, release the parking brake, engage the PTO and
rise slightly from the seat; the engine should stop.
4. Sitting on the seat, engage the parking brake, move the
PTO to Off, and lock the motion control levers in
neutral. Now start the engine. While the engine is
running, center the motion controls and move (forward
or reverse); the engine should stop.
