Starting and Stopping
the Engine
Starting
1.
Sit down on the seat and move the motion
controls to neutral locked position.
2.
Set the parking brake; refer to Setting the
Parking Brake, page 16.
3.
Move the PTO (power take off) to “OFF”
(Fig. 3).
4.
Move the choke control to “ON” position before
starting a cold engine.
Note:
A warm or hot engine may require
choking. After engine starts, move
choke control to “OFF” position.
5.
Move the throttle control to the “FAST” position
before starting a cold engine.
6.
Turn ignition key “START” to energize starter.
When engines starts, release key.
IMPORTANT: Do not engage starter for
more than 10 seconds at a time. If engine fails
to start allow 30 second cool-down period
between attempts. Failure to follow these
instructions can burn out starter motor.
7.
After the engine starts, move the choke to “OFF”
(Fig. 4). If the engine stalls or hesitates, move
the choke back to “ON” for a few seconds. Then
move the throttle lever to desired setting. Repeat
this as required.
